"Simon has been an absolute joy to work with. His clear, expert, professional and practical knowledge has shone through, every time. More than that, he takes his time to explain complex ideas and help his clients understand his decision making, offering kind reassurance and genuine communication. I cannot recommend Simon highly enough."
"After instructing another surveyor to carry out a Level 3 survey on a home we were hoping to purchase, woodworm was discovered in the cellar. We contacted Simon to carry out a thorough investigation of the cellar area, and are very happy we did so. From the initial conversation onward, Simon was a joy to work with: transparent in his communication and always happy to answer questions. The summary he provided was completed quickly, was easy to digest, and contained clear recommendations for remedial work. Simon's knowledge and deep care for his work shines through and has helped to leave us feeling reassured in our choices moving forward. We were extremely impressed by his professionalism and will certainly be turning to him again in the future! Thank you Simon."
"We canβt thank Simon enough for the helpful and honest advice he gave us recently when we were faced with a survey that highlighted many unexpected issues. We were planning to buy a significantly extended and recently modernised 1930s property, but when we received the survey, completed by another surveyor, we were shocked to see so many unexpected red elements concerning the quality of the extension and replacement roof. We contacted Simon for advice after it became evident that further structural investigation would be invasive, and therefore not possible before purchase, because we didnβt want to walk away if the surveyor had been overly cautious or we were overestimating the potential seriousness of the points raised. From the first conversation, Simon was friendly and approachable and fully understood the dilemma we found ourselves in. He agreed to review the points of concern and call us the following day to discuss. The subsequent conversation was invaluable. Simon was so knowledgeable and went through all the points weβd highlighted in detail, giving his objective opinion and explaining things so we could understand the potential impacts. He confirmed that the points raised, were valid observations, and was able to expand on the potential risks/problems. It was reassuring to know that the points raised were valid, and his advice really helped us make a more informed decision about how to proceed. Going forward, we will be asking Simon to complete a level 3 survey on the next property we hope to buy. Very grateful for all the help and advice given, particularly at short notice. We would have no hesitation in recommending Simon to anyone looking for a surveyor."
"We were delighted with Simon's work for us. He was very flexible, thorough and knowledgeable. I wanted a consultation on a Victorian house we are buying and asked if I could walk round with him and take notes, rather than having a traditional report. Simon went above and beyond, took very high quality photos of the roof with a drone and provided excellent, detailed advice. I would definitely use Simon again and would highly recommend him, especially if you are buying an older property."
"I recommend you go to Simon's website. His opening gambit is "I like old buildings and helping people buy and maintain them". If this is what you need, I really suggest you just give him a call - if he has the time to help. I've uploaded a photo of a crack in a wall. I sent this (and about another five photos of other suspicious cracks) to Simon c.4 months after he'd walked us through our c.150-page survey in person (detailing how to fix every problem for the least amount of money, and then putting us in contact with some excellent contractors and tradespersons). He immediately called me back, then spent the next 30-40 minutes doing a forensic dig into our house plans, old photographs, and building regulations to assess the risk, detailing why, how, and when, how much we should worry and whether we should do anything immediate. For free. He then (again) told us how to fix it on the cheap with little fuss. He's an old building geek. You've bought an old building. Give him a call; his time is worth every penny you'll spend."
